What’s New

This chapter provides a brief overview of the new features and enhancements added in the CGN Harmony App v3.6.

New Features

The following new features and enhancements are introduced:

App profiling and Page Load Time Improvement

Drop Tagging for System FPGA counters

TopK Counters and Top IPv4 Destination Widget

     Linked Cursor

     Unlinked Charts

     Alerts and Events in Overlay

Contextualized Alerts, Events, and Audit Logs

Drill down From chart overlay events to Log View Panel

Specify and Persist Thresholds per User

Statistics Per Instance for HA and Standby

App profiling and Page Load Time Improvement

Sync Tool tip is disabled by default for faster page load time. The page load time has improved considerably to display unlinked charts. User can enable Sync Tool tip to activate link cursor and alerts and events overlay.

Drop Tagging for System FPGA counters

The Analytics > Drops page displays a new set of widgets with System FPGA Drops statistics:

     DROPS BY REASON

           DROPS BY REASON SUMMARY

           DROPS BY SEVERITY

                       DROPS BY SEVERITY SUMMARY

TopK Counters and Top IPv4 Destination Widget

A new widget CGN App > Dashboard > Top Destinations (IPv4) is added to display destination or reverse source statistics.

The TopK counters for Volume, Packets, and Sessions have been enhanced in the following widgets on CGN App Dashboard with graph or statistics for Overall bytes, Uplink bytes and Downlink bytes:

     Top Subscribers IPv4

     Top Subscribers IPV6

     Top Destinations IPv4 (Reverse Source)

Linked Cursor

All charts in CGN App Dashboard and Analytics tab widgets have Linked Cursor for the charts. The linked chart option is enabled when you click Sync Tool tip button.

The tool tips of the charts are linked together. Once user moves the cursor into one of the charts, it displays the tool tip and line at the cursor point. All related charts display tool tips and lines at the points with the same time stamp.

A new switch button Sync Tool tip is available on the right of Time Bar. It is used to enable or disable the Linked Cursor. The cursor links the charts together to easily contrast data among the different charts.

Unlinked Charts

When you turn off "Sync Tool tip".    Move the cursor into a chart, only the current chart will show tool tip and draw line where the cursor is moved.

Alerts and Events in Overlay

Overlay alerts and events are displayed on the time series graphs in CGN App Analytics and Dashboard pages. New alerts and events generated are plotted on the time series graph in real time. Using this information, users can:

Correlate the events and alerts data with live traffic for troubleshooting.

Easily map any significant modification in incoming traffic to corresponding events or alerts that triggered the change in traffic.

The five categories of alerts and events are:

     System Events

     Service Alerts

     Infrastructure Alerts

     Anomalies

Configuration Events (Category – System; Sub-category – Services)

These alerts & events can be configured from Harmony Controller.

Users can select the type of overlay alerts and events on the charts from the drop down menu next to the Auto Refresh duration selection button.

The overlay data is displayed on the charts as red dots. On hover on any of the overlay point, a tool tip displays what category of event/alert occurred at that time stamp.

Contextualized Alerts, Events, and Audit Logs

Alerts and Events tabs in the log section of the CGN App are enhanced to display all the alerts specific to the selected App service, system & infrastructure level alerts.

The CGN App > Log View panel displays the following new Contextualized Alerts, Events, and Audit Logs in the following tabs:

     Alerts

     Events

Users can select the type of overlay alerts and events on the charts from the drop down menu next to the Auto Refresh duration selection button.

The overlay data is displayed on the charts as red dots. On hover on any of the overlay point, a tool tip displays what category of event/alert occurred at that time stamp.

Drill down From chart overlay events to Log View Panel

This enhancement provides the following functionalities:

Chart overlay events drill down to display the Event View panel. The Tool tip in time series charts in CGN App display:

Category list of alerts and events.

Count of alerts and events against each category type.

CGN App has Events tabs in the Log View panel. It displays all the events for CGN App service and system and infrastructure level alerts as well.

Overlay is displayed on all charts in CGN App widget if Sync Tool tip is enabled and Alerts and Events are enabled in the “:” menu next to “Sync Tool tip”. All charts are synced and a red dot represents the time selection cursor. The total count is displayed for the log timestamps near the time of the clicked red point on the chart.

The following event counters are displayed in overlay:

     System Events

     Configuration Events

     Anomalies

When you click any one of the event logs in Overlay or tool tip, the related events logs detail drill down is displayed in Log View > Events tab.

The various categories of alerts are displayed in tool tip are:

     Service Alerts,

     Infrastructure Alerts.

Click any alert category in overlay and tool tip to open Log View > Alerts tab automatically.

Enhancements

The following enhancements are introduced:

Specify and Persist Thresholds per User

Statistics Per Instance for HA and Standby

Specify and Persist Thresholds per User

CGN App provides options for user to set threshold preferences for KPIs or top indicators to red, if at a higher limit than the default values, in the new menu widget added to CGN App > KPI Bar > : (Threshold Preferences).

Thresholds for indicators in Harmony Apps can be now changed after initialization. The user threshold preferences settings allows users to control the thresholds of all visualizations in the KPIs.

FIGURE 1: Dashboard > KPI Bar > : (Threshold Preferences)

User Threshold Preferences can be set for the following KPIs. Reset option is set by default:

     Subscribers

     Current Session

     Session Rate

     Throughput Downlink

     Throughput Uplink

     Packet Rate Uplink

     Packet Rate Downlink

     TCP Port Utilization

There are two types of sliders; numerical and percentage value.

The following color coding is displayed according to the threshold settings:

     Green: Lower than threshold value

     Yellow: Medium, valid threshold

     Red: Higher than threshold value

Statistics Per Instance for HA and Standby

CGN App widgets now display enhanced statistics for Thunder devices or device instances as follows. For example, consider a High Availability Active-Standby device cluster setup:

     Active device instances,

     Standby device instances

Overall number of device instances in a cluster.

The following Top KPIs, in Dashboard and Analytics pages are enhanced:

     Subscribers

     Current session/Session Rate

The following widgets in Dashboard and Analytics (Traffic) pages are enhanced:

     Subscribers

     Sessions

Additional widgets in Analytics enhanced for HA and Standby analytics:

     Full Cone Sessions

     Mappings

     Overall Chart

Active Mappings Time Series By Protocol

     Mapping Events

     Mapping by Protocol
