Creating and Managing Super Admin Users

It is recommended that you read the following topic before you proceed:

Super Admin is a role. The first user ‘super-admin’ is created during installation and it’s password is set by the user installing the Controller. It is important that an email address is attached to this user on first login. Having an email address helps recovering the password and receive other alerts from the Controller.

Other users can be added with Super Admin role. It is recommended that the default super-admin user should only be used for recovery purpose like when remote server is not available to authenticate the users. In normal case, individual user accounts should be used. It is also important that the admin of Operator Scope configures email server settings so that the Controller is able to send the emails.

Adding a Super Admin

  1. Log in to Harmony Portal as a Super Admin.

  2. Make sure that Controller Scope is selected in scope selector dropdown in top-left of the window.

  3. In the navigation pane, go to Controller > Super Admin. Super Admins page gets displayed in right panel.

  4. Click on Add on top-right of Super Admins page. Add Super Admins slider opens.

  5. Fill the first name, last name and email address of the user who will be added as super admin. Also choose a user name.

  6. Click Save.

A row will be added in the table on Super Admins page for the newly created super admin.

If email server is set-up properly, this user will get an email for setting up the account. If the user fails to get the account activation email, the activation link for the user can be obtained and emailed separately. Please follow the steps of Editing Information of a Super Admin and scroll down to obtain the activation link.

Editing Information of a Super Admin

  1. Log in to Harmony Portal as a Super Admin.

  2. Make sure that Controller Scope is selected in scope selector dropdown in top-left of the window.

  3. In the navigation pane, go to Controller > Super Admin. Super Admins page gets displayed in right panel.

  4. To edit the super-admin, select image_reference and click Edit. Edit Super Admin slider opens.

  5. You can edit the first name, last name and email address of the user. User is unverified until super-admin is activated.

  6. To activate the super-admin, use the activation link provided.

Deleting a Super Admin Account

The default account with username ‘super-admin’ cannot be deleted. Rest of the Super Admin Account can be deleted as following:

  1. Log in to Harmony Portal as a Super Admin.

  2. Make sure that Controller Scope is selected in scope selector dropdown in top-left of the window.

  3. In the navigation pane, go to Controller > Super Admin. Super Admins page gets displayed in right panel.

  4. To edit the super-admin, select image_reference and click Delete. Delete Super Admin slider opens.

  5. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
